Spring in Landskrona – a city of colorful flowers

Is this Sweden?

When I told my parents during my Erasmus in Sweden that Landskrona was in my travel plans, they replied with a smile that this place is called Lanckorona and it’s located in Poland! 😉 Well, not everybody has to know a world map well, and don’t take me wrong – I’m not laughing from my parents. Probably I would make same mistake if I haven’t been in the topic! Meanwhile, our Landskrona is in Skåne, so it belongs to Sweden. During my first Erasmus, I visited this historic town for a short walk. 😉 It was my first lonely trip. Although Landskrona was located only 40 minutes from my lovely Lund, this lonely trip was an extremely valuable experience for me. How was it? Let me show you! 😉

How to get to Landskrona

In my case, the journey was simple, because the journey took place when I was at my first Erasmus in Lund. From Lund, you can get there in around 40 minutes by direct train. The timetable of the train can be checked here. In Sweden, traveling by public transport is not the cheapest one, but if you plan a lot of travel, consider buying a jojo card. You can buy much cheaper tickets on the jojo card, especially if you’re traveling in two. You can buy it at the station or in 7-eleven stores.

Landmark – water tower

The Main Railway Station was exceptionally far from the city center. For a moment, I wanted to get a bus, but I found that a walk would be better. I was accompanied only by the Triposo application with an offline map. Due this app I found the city landmark – water tower – the most recognizable point in Landskrona. I know that you probably think that I’m trying to push the putty that the water tower can be a nice attraction … but this one is quite pretty and look like an antique! 😛 However, with a hand on my heart, I will tell you that if you miss it, you won’t lose much. 😛

Churches

Of course during the trip, I went to the most important and most-known churches. Landskrona can boast several objects, and the most important of them is the church of Sofia Albertina. Personally, it let me down a bit. It looks like as someone came, sorted the stones in a simple way, so that it would be „as cheap and as quick as possible”. Similarly, the interior looks like the rest – empty, poor and incredibly boring. I’m sorry that I write about it like that, but I won’t cheat on you. However, the Asmundtorps church looks much better!

Landskrona rules – Town Hall

Town Halls are another type of buildings that I totally love to admire. I usually see unusual town halls, but in this case Landskrona didn’t show too much. A plain, brick town hall that was opened in the 19th century. Interestingly, it is built in the style of stepped gable, which was described in Malmo content!

Citadel

When I traveled to Landskrona, my friends didn’t hide their amazement. They claimed that there is nothing to see and it makes no sense to go. I tried to convince them of the sixteenth-century Citadel, but even that didn’t work. As you can see, their grumble didn’t discourage me, that’s why I went alone!

Unfortunately, the Citadel didn’t fully meet my expectations! Why? Although it is powerful and at the same time is an example of great buildings from the 16th century, it looks best from a bird’s eye view! Only on the map you can see its amazing shape and the castle and the river surrounding it. It is a pity that I didn’t have a drone with me. 😛 Unfortunately, the picture from our perspective completely doesn’t reflect how this place looks from a bird’s eye view!

Sculptures

One more sentences and you will find that it is not worth going to Landskrona! 😛 Since I’ve already complained, now I will show you the positive aspects of the trip! Because, I don’t regret that I came, on the contrary: One thing made me love Landskrone!

Before I show you what was the best thing in Landskrona, I will tell you something less exciting. The whole city is full of sculptures. I don’t remember what’s the story behind them, but it looks nice and make people curious about them! Let me show you what I’ve found!

Spring in the city

I was lucky that I choosed spring time for my journey. Landskrona seems to love spring, because every corner of the city was full of colorful flowers! Although they were only the most ordinary green areas near the pavement, the city decided to plant flowers on them. And not just one color! I don’t think I have seen so many colorful flowers in the city yet. The trees were also covered with flowers, which added addtional charm to the city! In my Lund weren’t as many flowers as in Landskrona. That’s why I fall in love! 🙂

I spent several hours in Landskrona. Maybe the city itself didn’t quite convince me, but this spring atmosphere covered up all the imperfections! That is why Landskrona and my first lonely trip, I will always remember with sentiment! 🙂
